Started in 1998 by Michael O'Brien, the Firm set out on a course to differentiate itself from other law firms serving businesses in Chicagoland. Michael O'Brien believed that businesses in Chicago would be better served by a law practice that focused exclusively on the needs of business. Having worked for other firms, Michael thought that conflicts arose in managing a law practice where the practice served everyone. O'Brien Law Offices has avoided the temptation to do criminal law, divorce or personal injury cases, despite the fact that this type of work is easy to obtain and profitable.

Our Firm is not designed to be all things to all people. Since our foundation and continuing today, O'Brien Law Offices is dedicated to remain disciplined, to stick with what we know and what we do best ... serving businesses and their owners. We believe it is that dedicated focus that has made O'Brien Law Offices one of the fastest growing law practices in the area today.

Our practice is split fairly evenly between business transactions on the one hand and commercial litigation on the other. These divergent areas require two separate skill sets and the attorneys at our firm are well versed in those skills. We believe our courtroom experience makes us more sensitive and thorough in our contract negotiations. Similarly, our first hand understanding of business transactions provides a competitive advantage when a business dispute has to be resolved in the courtroom.
