Mr. O'Brien divides his time between business transactions and commercial litigation.
Experience:
Mr. O'Brien founded the Firm, in Wheaton, Illinois in 1998, after spending five years as an associate for two Chicagoland firms. Michael's practice is concentrated in representation of entrepreneurial companies in a variety of litigation matters, including, but not limited to shareholder disputes, contract litigation, trust and estate litigation, fraud in all of its varieties, real estate litigation and employment claims.
Michael's corporate practice includes formation, merger & acquisitions, corporate dissolutions, commercial and residential real estate development, drafting and negotiating asset purchase agreements, buy/sell agreements, operating agreements, employment agreements and the like. Michael also provides ongoing corporate advice for owners of small and mid-sized businesses.
Professional Activities & Achievements:
Mr. O'Brien distinguished himself at Northern Illinois University College of Law by winning numerous awards available for advocacy. During the 10th Annual Prize Moot Court Competition, Mr O'Brien was a member of the winning team and was awarded "Best Oral Advocate" in both the preliminary and final rounds. He also served as Chief Justice of the NIU College of Law Moot Court Society and participated in the National Moot Court Society Competition in 1992. For his achievements, Mr. O'Brien now has a place on the NIU College of Law Wall of Fame.
